World Mission Group

With the help of Church Members we have been able to continue supporting Every Child's work in Malawi. However after prayer and much discussion we felt that we should give our supporters the opportunity to redirect donations from Every Child to Lloyd Chizenga's ministry in Malawi. As we are very happy for those who wished to continue giving to Every Child we have circulated a sheet asking our supporters to specify where their donations should be directed.

We hope to soon be doing a 5 minute presentation in Church on Every Child and Lloyd's ministries in Malawi. We hope that others may wish to either join the World Mission Group or support our work.

In the mean time we as a group have very much enjoyed and completed a 13 session Bible study series on Nehemiah and are now studying Elijah with all taking turns in leading.

AGM Report 2008

With the help of Church Members we have been able to continue supporting Every Child's work in Malawi. This is now our 10th year with them.

In addition to Every Child we raised £740 for Bibles to support Lloyd Chizenga's ministry in Malawi. This was given to Lloyd by Dave Gorman from APF when he visited Malawi in the summer of 2006. In October 2006 we held a Malawi night when Dave and his wife Sheena gave an illustrated talk on their experiences in Malawi.

In November we were greatly distressed, as was the whole Church, to learn that Jaquie Chizenga was attacked while Lloyd was away from home. Our prayers are still very much with them.

In the mean time we as a group are very much enjoying doing a Bible study series on Nehemiah with all taking it in turns to lead.

Hi
Just a short note to let you know what we are up to at the moment.
A few weeks ago Lloyd Chinzenga came over from Malawi and the group were able to spend some time with him, listening to him talk about his life and the different problems that they all have to face every day. There are many problems but one thing which we as a group all remembered was the fact that many of the Pastors who work with Lloyd do not even have a Bible in their own language....
Now, I don't know about you but I couldn't do much without my Bible. It would be like trying to build a flat pack wardrobe without the instructions, it would be almost impossible or should I say very difficult. We found out that you can purchase a Bible printed in their own language for £3 each........... .. Now that's a lot for a Pastor to buy...........But not for us... Just stop and think how much we have.....How much we waste..... How easy would it be to help..... ..To really make a difference.. Everyone of us young and old could buy a Bible if we really wanted too....................

THE PLAN

1. We have spoken to Dave the administrator for A.P.F. who is going out to Africa at the end of May and he has agreed to purchase Bibles for us and get them delivered to Lloyd in Malawi.
2. NIGHT OF 100 BIBLES.... We are going to have a fun night of simple games on Saturday 20th May....for the young and old....when did you last play snakes and ladders...Jenga Draughts. It will be a night of fellowship and laughter and all for the cost of a Bible... .£3
3. We really do want to be able to buy a 100 Bibles so if you can't come along that evening but would like to buy a Bible you will be able to do so.

PLEASE JOIN WITH US IN THIS
AS WE TRY TO PURCHASE AS MANY BIBLES
TO HELP LLOYD AND HIS PASTORS IN MALAWI

Lets make a difference

The World Mission Group is a group of people who meet regularly to share their concern for others who live in poor countries of the world. Much of our work has centred on Malawi where we have enabled St. Bartholomew's Church to give ongoing and very practical support to 8 children and their families.

Our meetings often involve a bible study and discussions about world situations. Occasionally we ask to run a service in order to update the congregation about world news, from a Christian perspective.

Once a year we organise a quiz night, which helps to raise awareness of how the folks of St. Bartholomew's are helping others abroad, and also to say thank you for the support and encouragement we as a group receive.

Our group has found its focus and its strength from James, Chapter 2 verses 14 to 17.
