Rock Solid continues to meet every week during term time in the church hall on Friday evenings. It is well attended by approximately 10 - 12 young people who are keen to get involved in different games and challenges.
The evenings are themed and cover all aspects of the Christian faith. From the moment young people arrive, the session is action packed and constantly on the move! The leaders are always amazed at how the young people adapt to this, particularly when they have been at school all week. We ask them to run around, sit down, listen, & discuss, volunteer do a challenge and take part in trust games. They volunteer to get covered in jam, jelly, treacle or various other foods and water! And love it!
Rock solid lost Aaron Beale as a leader in March, when other commitments meant that he could no longer attend. However there are still four leaders who attend every week - Emma Eastwood, Ellie Darabi, Steve Horne and myself. Occasionally we have young helpers who come along also. We welcome others who might be interested in this work to join us or come or have a look!

AGM Report ~ April 2008
Rock Solid operates on a Friday evening, during school term time only, from 6.46pm until 8.08pm.
We re-launched on Friday 2nd March with 8 leaders and young helpers - Julie Horne, Emma Eastwood, Aaron Beale, Steve Horne, Jason Horne, Ellie Darabi, Kate Shean and Pete Williams.
We have had an excellent start to the new group, with up to 15 young people between the ages of 11-14 years, attending each week. Parents, as always, have been very supportive, especially when their youngsters return home wet, sticky and sometimes, covered in flour!
The youngsters are always keen to ensure leaders have the same fun as them and include leaders in the custard pie throwing etc. Steve seems to be the current target!!
Fun is the highlight of the evening; however, we are enthused at the commitment the youngsters are showing and their involvement in the quieter times of the session, when we discuss the Christian message of the evening. They are amazing!
Long may Rock Solid continue!

Rock Solid continues to meet in the church hall on Friday evenings during term time from 6.46 to 8.08 p.m. For school years 7 to 9 (young people aged 11 to 14) there are up to 40 children on our books and between 20 and 30 turn up each week - a great bunch of kids, St. Bart's should be proud of them!
What do we do - have fun, build friendships, discuss issues facing young people today and encourage Christian growth. We want non-church young people to become part of our club. The kids enjoy the fast moving, wacky games and the food, drink and tuck shop.
During the past year successful outings have included a family barbecue and games at Coombe Abbey, a treasure hunt around Binley Woods, a summer disco, a treasure hunt around Coombe Country Park, a Christmas Laser Quest trip and ice skating at the Sky Dome. Recently we held a sponsored bounce in aid of the John White Cafe and the Air Ambulance Appeal. During the next couple of months we are planning to help Greg with one of the third Sunday morning Praise Services and also help at the Blitz evening.
Please pray for the team leading the Club - Phamie Toner, Richard Lee, Liz and Graham Knight, Kevin and Ellie and to the new recruits Lyria Normington and Emma Perry. If anyone would like to come and have fun on a Friday night, you would be most welcome the join the team.
Grateful thanks to Mark Jones for looking after the Rock Solid account and to Steve and Julie Home for all their hard work for Rock Solid over the past few years. Steve and Julie have recently moved to run Rock Solid Two on a Sunday morning.
Do pop in and visit us one evening to see what happens but watch out for the shaving foam, flying pitta breads or the ten foot long banana split!!!

Rock Solid involves young people from school years 7,8 and 9
who meet in the Church Hall on Fridays during term time from 6.46 p.m. to 8.08 p.m.
Led by Steve and Julie, Liz and Graham, Richard, Mark, Phamie, Lynda and Ellie,
they reach out to approximately 30 to 45 11-14 year olds in ways that are relevant and certainly not boring.
They play games, share food and experience Christian growth in fun and exciting ways.
A typical club night is based around a particular theme.
There are energetic games followed by life skills (small group discussions or role plays).
There is then an input as to how God can help with the issue in focus.
The evening finishes with a lively, memorable game and refreshments. Recent themes have included:
- Mega Pizza Party
- Greeks, Nerds and Radical Dudes
- Heroic Failures
- Compliments Night
|
- The Chart Show
- The Big Sell
- Telly Addicts
- Gladiators.

Once a month we go out on a visit, in March it was a bowling bonanza at Mega Bowl.
All this for just £1.00 a week.
New members are always welcome, come and join the fun!
