Parish Praise

Time: Third Sunday in every month 10 - 11am.
Venue : Church Hall.

Mission statement: 'To know God better, to be wholly filled with His love and share His love with others'.

A very challenging statement that clearly reflects the words of the Creed where we are called to be 'One Holy People', distinctly different and commanded to walk in the ways of our Holy God.

We are called to be 'catholic' or universal people, never existing for the sake of ourselves but created for all creation to see the rule and reign of God established in all places at all times.

We are called to be an 'apostolic church' - a sent travelling community organised around mission and committed to the developmental maturity of the people of God as disciples.

We are called to be 'church', a gathering of people who are called to God and for God.

Parish Praise has been an all-age ministry within the church at Saint Bartholomew's that has been operating for three years now. As a congregation we have grown numerically over this time and it is also our prayer, as a team, that there is growth spiritually, with people becoming a Holy, catholic and apostolic church and all that will imply.

Each time we try to consider how the children and young people can be involved in ways that are appropriate for them.

During the last year we have celebrated the traditional Christian festivals of Easter, Pentecost and Christmas as well as looking at Mothering Sunday and Father's Day.

As a team we had the privilege and pleasure of launching the 2006 holiday club built around the story of Joseph and His trust in God.

We also explored passages from Scripture - The feeding of the 5000 and how the crowd began to see Jesus in a different way.

We examined the story of the workers in the vineyard challenging us about what we can give to God's Kingdom.

We marvelled at God as creator, Sovereign, Human (Jesus) and as God of the whole universe.

We looked at how a simple teaspoon TSP might help us in talking and listening to God (Thank you, Sorry and Please).

We also tried to support and underline the importance of being good stewards.

As a team we meet once a month to pray, study, plan and prepare for the Sunday service. These meetings last from 7.30 to 9 pm.

On the day of the service we meet in the church hall from 8.30 onwards.

We are always looking to extend the team and if any of you are interested in joining us please speak to any member of the team and you will be warmly welcomed.

The team for 2006 - 2007 has been as follows: Brian and Pat Slater, Bob and Andrew Normington, Garry and Sandra Lowe, Greg, Sue and Luke Sampson, Hannah Toner, Steve Sherry, Julie Stafford, Adam Jones as well as help and support from others when needed.
